In depth with the BIG C: A Research Forum on Cancer
The Metro Manila Health Research and Development Consortium hold it's 2nd Quarter Research Forum entitled “In depth with the BIG C: A Research Forum on Cancer” last May 4, 2012 at Gusaling Atienza, T.O.P. Room, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM).
The research forum started at 2:30 pm which was invocated by Ms. Perseveranda-Fe J. Otico, Member of the MMHRDC Research Utilization Committee and a Senior Environment Specialist at Environment Management Bureau. Welcoming Remarks was made by Neri S. Pescadera, PhD, Vice President for Academic Affairs of PLM.
Introduction of the speakers was done by Eufemia Collao, MD, Dean, College of Medicine of PLM.
Speakers of the said forum are Sonia Jacinto, PhD a professor from the Institute of Biology of University of the Philippines Diliman presented a research work entitled“Philippine Plants Showing Cytotoxic Activity to Selected Human Cancer Cell Lines”, Ma. Luisa Enriquez, PhD, Director form the College of Sciences, Center for Natural Sciences and Ecological Research of the De La Salle University Manila presented an ongoing research work entitled “Intratumoral heterogeneity of KRAS and P53 mutations Among Filipinos with Colorectal Cancer” and Eliza Raymundo,MD, DMM, FPUA who is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Urology, Department of Surgery of UP Manila - PGH presented a research work entitled “Prostate Cancer and the Filipino: Risk Assessment and the Screening Controversy”.
As part of a research forum, a Reactor from Philippine Cancer Society, Mr. Romeo Marcaida, RN, Patient Navigation Program Head of the said Society reacted to the presentations of the speakers.
Attendees of the said forum were researchers, professionals such as nurses, doctors and health practitioners and students who are currently taking up medicine.
