Given its central role, liver diseases—ranging from cancer to metabolic dysfunction—pose significant global health challenges, affecting millions of people worldwide. Understanding the complexities of liver health and disease requires collaborative, multidisciplinary, and international efforts.

In response to this urgent need, the Metro Manila Health Research Development Consortium (MMHRDC) Research Utilization Committee, in partnership with De La Salle University, is proud to present the Webinar Forum on Liver Research Across Borders. This forum serves as a platform for bridging international expertise and fostering regional collaboration in liver research. It aims to shed light on the diverse factors influencing liver health.

The forum features a distinguished lineup of speakers from across the globe, representing diverse areas of liver research:

• Dr. Caecilia Sukowati from the Italian Liver Foundation will delve into the molecular heterogeneity of liver cancer, comparing etiological factors between Eastern and Western populations.
• Dr. Sri Jayanti of Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency will explore the paradoxical role of bilirubin as both a protective and harmful factor in neurological conditions.
• Dr. Noel Salvosa of DOST-PCHRD will discuss translational research on fatty liver disease, bridging the gap between laboratory models and clinical applications.
• Dr. Michael Baclig from Trinity University of Asia will provide a Philippine perspective on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, a growing public health concern in the region.
